Guest post - 50 Interesting Facts about Spanish Culture

Are you learning Spanish? Maybe you'd love to live in Spain or just visit? Whatever the case, Spain is an amazing country rich in history and culture. From the food to the music to the language, it is a place with something for everyone.

Spain is the fourth most visited country in the world and one of the top tourist destinations, yet there are still some things that would surprise you. For example, did you know that Spaniards own more cars than cell phones? Or that there is a festival called La Tomatina where people throw tomatoes at each other? You'd probably never guess that the beret was invented in Spain (not France) either!

Food is also a huge part of Spanish culture. Each region has its specialties, and they're all delicious! Bread is eaten at almost every meal, and the country is one of the world's biggest producers of saffron, an important ingredient in paella. Spaniards also have a different pace of life- they typically eat lunch between 1 and 3pm and sit down for dinner around 10pm with a midday siesta thrown in. If visiting keep in mind that it is not customary to tip, especially for cheap meals.

These are just a few of the wonders of Spain. For more fun facts that are sure to interest you, check out the full article from TakeLessons and the infographic below. Maybe you'll find that there's a little Spaniard in you, too!
